Veterinary Parasitology

The Department of Veterinary Parasitology offers undergraduate courses to (BVSc & AH) students as per curriculum of VCI. The courses in the departments are designed to teach students the relationship between a parasite and its host body interactions as both morbidity and mortality in livestock and poultry are considerably increased by parasites, which results in financial losses for livestock owners. The Department’s curriculum includes courses such as General Parasitology, Helminthology, Protozoology, Entomology, Immunology, Epidemiology and Diagnostic Parasitology. Some of the equipments available are multi head microscope, phase contrast microscope, BOD incubator, blood analyzer etc. The practical part of the courses includes laboratory work and field visits to gain hands-on experience in the diagnosis, prevention, and management of parasitic disorders in livestock and pets due to protozoan, helminth, and insect parasites. Students receive hands-on instruction for parasite detection and clinical assessment of fecal and blood samples for parasitic illnesses.
