Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics

Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics aims to boost the reproductive health care of animals. With this objective the department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics has been started to impart teaching and extension activities. The department offer undergraduate courses to B.V.Sc&A.H. degree students in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics as per curriculum of VCI.

Department has basic facilities to carry out undergraduate practicals, routine pregnancy diagnosis and artificial insemination. Facility of ultrasonography is being used for early pregnancy diagnosis, study of follicular dynamics, ascertaining cystic ovary conditions, optimizing the time of insemination by measuring the dominant follicle size at the time of estrus. Regular reproductive health care of animals and clinical camps for various reproductive problems are being organised for benefits of the farmers. Other activities of the department include ambulatory services to different villages adopted by the M.R. Veterinary College for the welfare of animals, awareness campaign for estrus detection, protection against common reproductive ailments, colostrums feeding and neonatal care through camps.
